Raleigh wood fences:

The three main things to consider when choosing a wood fence are function, cost, and appeal. Our wood fences (such as a 3 rail horse fences without wire) start at about $7 a linear foot and can sometimes reach as high as $25 a foot. All prices include labor and materials. We do not just sell materials to the public.

99.9% of wood fences on the East Coast are built with industry standard pressure treated pine. The main reason is geography. Cedar and Redwood lumber comes from the West Coast, adding many hundreds of dollars to the price of the materials.

Is there any type of warranty on the lumber or wood?

Our fence company like EVERY other fence companies do not guarantee anything on the materials. The manufacturer usually provides a warranty against damage caused by termites and fungal decay.

THIS RALEIGH FENCE CONTRACTOR GIVES YOU A WRITTEN LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE WORKMANSHIP OF YOUR FENCE.

What about any cracking, warping, and graying that may occur?

Pressure-treated wood is protected from termites and decay, it is NOT sealed to withstand moisture and sun exposure. You wouldn't stay in the sun without putting sunscreen on, so why would you think your fence didn't need protection as well? NOT all fences will experience problems, but MOST WILL! . Wood is a natural material and expands and contracts when it absorbs water and dries in the sun which causes the majority of cracking and warping. Pressure treated lumber can warp in as few as 15 minutes. VISIT our fence protection website for staining or water sealing your fence in Raleigh.

What can I do to minimize the effects of weathering and warping?

Protecting Your Fence is the BEST way to minimize the effects of weathering:

  • Make sure your fence company uses three rails for 5' and 6' high fences, and make sure pickets do not exceed more than 8" ABOVE the TOP rail.

  • Workmanship problems can occur YEARS AFTER your fence is built. A company or individual who gives you a One-YR Warranty CANNOT SAVE YOU FROM THIS MISTAKE. Most companies offer 3 years or more. Even if you do not choose our company and go with another fence installer, make sure you get at least a written 3 year warranty.

  • Water sealers and stains on the market will last anywhere from 7-15 years on fences. Visit the link above for more information about fence protection.
